Best Hair Care Tricks

A woman brushing her hairDesigner clothing, perfectly applied makeup, and fine jewelry are all wasted if your hair looks greasy, dull, or messy. Fortunately, no one needs a hair salon or expensive hair products to have hair that looks professionally cared for and styled. With the right hair care tricks for shampooing, drying, and styling your hair, it can be among your most attractive features.

Eat healthy

It goes without saying that you should be eating healthy, regardless of why you’re doing it. Eating a healthy, balanced diet can also do wonders for your hair and is a great addition to any hair care routine. Lean proteins, fruits, raw vegetables, whole grains, legumes, omega-3 fatty acids found in salmon or flaxseed oil and dairy products will keep hair at its healthiest. Drink plenty of water.

Use natural products

A variety of natural products can be used in place of your traditional conditioner. Use more natural hair care products like shikakai, lemon, coconut oil, vinegar etc. for hair care. Rinse dry hair in lemon juice to get back the lost shine. Mix apple cider vinegar with water to get shiny and bouncy hair. Apply honey on your scalp to solve the problem of tangled and frizzy hair. Mix honey in two cups of fresh cream to create an excellent natural hair product for dry hair. Not ready to go full-on with your natural hair care? Look for products that contain more natural ingredients, such as tea tree oil, jojoba oil, or vitamin E oil.

Wash with cool water

Beware of hot water! It can dry out your hair and leave it dull. Instead, after shampooing and conditioning, rinse with cool water. It closes the cuticle and allows light to reflect off the hair, producing lots of shine.

Find a shampoo that lathers less

Foamy doesn’t necessarily mean clean—sometimes, it means the opposite. Shampoos that lather too much are often overloaded with moisturizing products, which can leave build-up in your hair, making it look and feel dirtier quicker. So opt for a sulfate-free formula. Also one more hair care trick to promote body and volume, while avoiding breakage and split ends, is to stop the practice of automatically washing your hair every day.

Brush often

“Brush often” doesn’t mean over-brush your hair. It just means you should brush your hair on a daily basis for 3-4 times in order to stimulate your scalp. The stimulation of your scalp is what promotes the natural oils in it to allocate equally and also removes dead scalp tissue.  Hair is most brittle when it is wet so avoid brushing or combing when it’s wet, or else it will cause breakage. Wait until your hair is entirely dry before brushing it.

Do not over dry

Dry your hair with minimal heat. This hair care tip is one that everyone should follow because extreme heat will damage most hair. Lessen the frequency or intensity of heat used from blow-dryers, flat irons, and curling irons. Hot air can be injurious to your hair so when using a hair dryer use the cool setting.

Get your hair trimmed

Get your hair trimmed off every month. Every 30 days, cut about a 1/8 of the ends of your hair off in order to promote its growth and shed dead ends. You will see that this even helps ease your ability to style your hair.

Avoid harsh chemicals

Shiny hair is healthy hair — so don’t abuse it! Limit your hair’s exposure to harsh chemicals, like the chlorine in pools, and lye-based hair-relaxing creams. Use heat-styling as infrequently as you can get away with, and avoid products that contain alcohol, which can dry out your hair and strip its shine.
