Baking Soda for Skin Care

A Girls With Baking Soda Mask Want to know how to use baking soda for skin care? Baking soda is known for being a staple in the kitchen but it’s also one of the most useful and not to mention inexpensive ingredients around when it comes to skin care!

Grab a box of baking soda from your kitchen and get ready to see some big changes courtesy of these baking soda beauty fixes!

Facial Wash

When you’re thinking of ways to use baking soda for your skin, try it out as a facial wash! Combine 2 teaspoons of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of warm water and stir to create a paste. Splash your face with water, grab some of the mixture and gently wash your face in a circular motion. Then, rinse your face with warm water and pat your face dry.

Exfoliator

The many uses for baking soda for skin care also include using it for exfoliation. Some people find that plain baking soda on its own is grainy enough to be a gentle scrub. You can also add a teaspoon to your cleanser or add a tablespoon each of baking soda and water along with 2 teaspoons of oat flour to get a deeper cleaning.

Foot Soak

The skin on our feet is usually the last place we think of when it comes to baking soda for skin care but they need love too! After a hard day or even a not so hard day, treat your feet to a relaxing soak of baking soda and warm water. Using baking soda as a foot soak will not only get your little piggies squeaky clean but it’ll also soften your skin! Mix ½ cup of baking soda for every gallon of water in your basin, soak for about a half hour and follow it up with a thick cream for sparkly and smooth skin!

Detox Bath

We have advised how to use baking soda for skin but it also makes for a fabulous detoxing bath! Detox baths can help your body to eliminate toxins and your skin will love the nourishing minerals from the ingredients! Be sure you try this in the evening because you’ll likely feel tired. You might even feel weak or fluish from detoxing, so make sure you stay hydrated! Add 1-2 cups of baking soda and 2 cups of Epsom salts while you draw your bath and sit in it for about 30 minutes.

 Sunburn Relief

A great way to use baking soda for your skin is to use it to treat sunburns. Make a cool compress by soaking a clean cloth soaked in a mix of baking soda and water or make a bath by adding ½ cup baking soda to a lukewarm bath to relieve burning, irritating and itchy skin. It’s a great substitute when you don’t have any Aloe on hand.

Acne Mask

If you have acne, try using baking soda for skin care in the form of an acne mask. After washing your face, mix a few drops of baking soda with warm water until you have a paste and apply it all over your face. Leave it on for about 5-10 minutes and rinse off with warm water. Baking soda will not only clean and smooth your skin, as we found from the previous recipes, but it also helps remove blackheads!

Keep in mind that although baking soda is natural, some skin types tend to not love it as much others, so always test it out first and limit using these treatments to once a week!
